The Ultimate Performance Reusable Hot & Cold Gel pack is great for both cold and hot therapy. It provides both immediate first aid and ongoing treatment for sports injuries. It is an essential piece of kit to keep in the freezer to apply immediately after acute sprains, strains and contusions.
Suitable for both cold and hot therapies, the reusable pack contains a non-toxic gel that retains heat. The gel stays soft and flexible after freezing, even in temperatures as low as -20°C. As a result, you can easily mould around muscles and joints. Heat in a microwave or by immersing in hot water.
When should I use the hot & cold pack?
Use for the following:
- - Acute muscles strains (tears)
- - Contusions
- - Acute tendonitis
- - Chronic tendonitis
- - Headaches
- - Neck strain/ache
Keep in the freezer and apply to any acute muscle sprain, strain or contusion as soon as possible after injury. Following an injury it is important to apply the PRICE principles of protection, rest, ice (cold), compression and elevation. To use as a cold gel pack simply freeze for at least 20 minutes.
What about heat?
Do not apply heat to recent sports injuries. However, later in the rehabilitation process, when the acute phase has passed, alternating hot and cold, or applying just heat may be more beneficial. Heat stimulates blood flow and relaxes muscles. To heat them you can soak in hot water for 10 minutes or microwave for 30 seconds.
Why do I need 2 cold packs?
Keep one in the freezer for emergencies and one at room temperature ready to heat up as needed. Or, if you are in the acute phase and need to apply cold every 2 hours then keeping both in the freezer means you will always have one ready to go at the right temperature.
