Why Choose Advanced Over Standard Physiotherapy tape?

If you need kinesiology tape for regular, everyday use or light physical activities, standard tape may suffice. However, for high-performance scenarios, prolonged wear, or sensitive skin, Ultimate Performance Advanced Kinesiology Tape offers significant advantages in durability, effectiveness, and comfort.

What is Kinesiology tape?

Kinesiology tape, k-tape or Kinesio tape is a stretchy elastic therapeutic tape designed to support muscles and joints without restricting normal movement. Unlike rigid sports tape, it moves with your body, making it suitable for sport, exercise and everyday activities.

Physiotherapists and sports therapists commonly use kinesiology tape to help manage pain, provide light support and improve confidence during movement as part of a wider rehabilitation programme. It may help drain lymph fluids as well as activate, or deactivate muscles.

Kinesiology taping improves the body’s natural healing process by helping to increase blood flow around the muscle. It is non-restrictive, allowing for a full range of motion; the wave pattern adhesive backing moves with the skin and muscles.

Which conditions is K tape used for?

Ultimate Performance Kinesiology tape is popular for managing the following injuries and conditions:

  • Knee pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer's elbow
  • Achilles tendon pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Shin splints
  • Calf strains
  • IT band pain
  • Patellar tendon pain
  • Hamstring injuries
  • Swollen ankles

Applying Kinesio tape

Prepare the tape first by cutting into strips ready to use. Then cut the ends in a curve so there are no sharp corners. This helps prevent it coming away from the skin once applied.

Next fold each strip of tape over at around 1/4 to 1/3 down and tear the protective backing along the line of the fold. Then apply the tape along the length of the muscle then rub over the surface to fully activate the glue.
