Should I wear a wrist support in the gym?
If you have significant wrist pain, stop training and seek professional advice, particularly if the injury is recent, traumatic, or you suspect a fracture.
For mild wrist pain, weakness, or additional support during training, a wrist support can help improve stability and confidence when lifting weights, performing bodyweight exercises, or returning from injury.
Best Wrist Support for Gym Training
For most people, the Neoprene Wrist Wrap is the best choice. It provides adjustable support and compression whilst allowing normal movement, making it suitable for weight training, CrossFit and calisthenics. The neoprene material also helps retain warmth, which may improve comfort in chronic tendon injuries.
If you require a higher level of support, the Reusable Elastic Bandage can be wrapped around the wrist multiple times to provide firm stabilisation during heavier lifting.
If your wrist injury is severe enough to require a splint, you should avoid exercises that load the wrist until symptoms improve. However, you may still be able to maintain fitness using activities such as cycling, walking or the cross trainer.
