What is the best knee support for running?

Choosing the best knee support for running depends on:

  • Level of support needed
  • Any previous or current injuries

There is usually a trade off between the level of support you get and the range of movement the knee support allows. A high level of support means less movement and vice versa. Ultimate Performance supports have a support level rating from 1 to 4 with 4 being the highest.

For most runners, the ideal knee support offers a balance of stability and freedom of movement. Too much support can feel restrictive, while too little may not give you the protection you need.

Iliotibial Band (ITB) Syndrome

ITB syndrome causes pain on the outside of the knee. It often comes on at a specific time on a run and eases with rest. The ITB Strap is designed specifically for this injury.
